TOGETHER WITH

Good morning, Forsyth County.

After two weekends of winter weather that kept most of us indoors, it feels like we're finally turning a corner. I stepped outside yesterday to sunshine and 54 degrees, and I swear I could feel the whole county exhale. The snow is gone, the roads are clear, and there's a warmth creeping back that has me thinking about spring - even if February has other plans. And now that the Winter Olympics are in full swing, I've been enjoying the milder weather from the couch anyway - yelling at my TV during curling (a sport I still don't fully understand but refuse to stop watching), and getting way too invested in the figure skating drama. Sometimes the best way to enjoy not being snowed in is watching other people deal with ice and snow instead.

SPONSORED BY CARDS OVER CLICKS

Cards Over Clicks helps children disconnect from their devices and reconnect with the real world. Founded by local Navy veteran Dennis Loewer, this 501(c)(3) non-profit uses the excitement of card collecting to develop critical social and learning skills.

From Pokémon and Sports to Disney and Star Wars, every free card packet comes with a grade-specific educational worksheet tailored to Georgia standards. Whether for Pre-K or High School, these packs encourage students to achieve classroom goals and engage with their peers face-to-face.

They help educators and parents turn "social media timeouts" into fun, educational wins. Their mission is simple: inspire kids to put the phone down and learn through family-friendly collecting.

Ready to inspire your students or support the community? They are actively seeking teachers to challenge their classes, educators to help design worksheets, and local business sponsors to keep the packs free.

THE DIGEST

Ga. 400 express lane construction set to begin this spring

Forsyth County drivers should prepare for six years of construction as the Ga. 400 express lanes project moves forward. The 16-mile project will extend from the MARTA North Springs Station to just north of McFarland Parkway in south Forsyth, with interchanges planned at McGinnis Ferry and Union Hill roads. Express lanes must maintain speeds of 55 mph or higher, with tolls adjusting as often as every five minutes. Completion is targeted for 2031. Peach State Partners will operate the lanes for 56 years before transferring ownership to GDOT.

Northside Forsyth now offers nonsurgical treatment for thyroid cancer

Northside Hospital Forsyth is expanding cancer care options with radiofrequency ablation (RFA), a minimally invasive procedure for select thyroid cancer patients. RFA allows eligible patients to avoid traditional surgery while preserving thyroid function and returning to daily activities faster. The technology uses heat to target and destroy cancerous tissue without incisions. Northside Forsyth is among the first hospitals in the region to offer RFA for thyroid cancer, positioning the facility at the forefront of innovative cancer treatment for Forsyth County residents.
